Violinist Karen Humle

Karen Humle is educated at the Royal Danish Music Conservatory in Copenhagen and has also studied in London and Berlin.

Karen has previously worked in several of the major Danish orchestras – including 10 years in the Royal Danish Orchestra at The Royal Theatre in Copenhagen.

Since 2006 she has been working with a new form of classical improvisation, and this led to a radical change in her work, where she created a new approach to how people and businesses can work with inspiration, innovation, development and change through the experience of music.

Karen uses intuitive improvisation to create a musical image that reflects the multiple layers of a given situation, of words and processes or simply the prevailing atmosphere and she calls this: Musical portraits.

This is a unique way to express or characterize the essence and values of a person, a group or an organization. The Musical Portrait offers a platform for unthreatening and acceptable feedback or analysis and as such may serve as a catalyst for personal, social or organizational change.

Today, Karen Humle still works as a performing violinist often with a new approach and with the improvisation as her musical language. She has recently released her CD “Dialoque. Improvisations on melodies by Carl Nielsen” with pianist Ulrich Staerk.
